LEN: prémiový přírodní materiál, který vyniká svou autentičností

Linen: a premium natural material that stands out for its authenticity

Our first part of the “Introduction to Materials” series begins with 100% linen. The history of processing flax into textile fibers dates back to the 7th millennium BC. According to some sources, the first processing took place in South America, according to others in Iran. However, linen textile fibers reached Europe much later. What are the advantages, faded glory, and comeback of this great material? Let's take a closer look at the premium natural material that is not easy to obtain and which stands out for its authenticity.

The main advantages of linen

In the textile industry, linen is a fabric that stands out for its high strength, durability, and ability to absorb water. Last but not least, linen fibers have thermal insulation properties. These properties, with appropriate surface treatment (softening and other “finishing” treatments), mean that it is an absolutely ideal material for use in bed linen, towels, but also suits or traditional linen shirts.

Why was linen in decline

The reason is simple: price and the advent of synthetic materials. Linen requires a lot of water, so its cultivation is especially suitable in areas with high rainfall. In order to be used in the textile industry, linen must go through a relatively demanding processing process, which makes it a very expensive material. With the boom in synthetic materials, it practically disappeared from the offer of commercial brands. And that is now starting to change.

The return of 100% linen

Lace has recently (replacing most synthetic materials with natural ones) represented a very interesting alternative for many textile and other products. Together with hemp, this traditional material is experiencing a natural "comeback" and we are very happy that we managed to include it in our portfolio.

We love its naturalness

A traditional element of linen fabrics are the so-called nodules. Small cracks that are characteristic of natural linen and that are not removed during the production process. They give the material its authentic patina and design interest.

Introducing linen bedding

We managed to obtain 100% natural linen for production, which is also processed in a Czech company. The purely natural origin and technologically ethical processing of linen allowed us to start producing linen bedding, which we can finally proudly present to you.

Like you, other customers are starting to value smaller quantities of long-lasting products and prefer them to fast-moving products.

For this very reason, we focused on timeless design - so that linen bedding can be a key piece of your interior, even if its surroundings change over the years.

We produce our linen bedding in the size 140*200 cm, but if requested we can also process an extended length of 140*220 cm. And when you unpack it at home, you will probably be surprised, as we were, by how soft it can be.

We look forward to your experiences and feedback!
